August is National Black Business Month

The eighth month of the year is here and we’re officially in National Black Business month!!! Let’s move through this month with unity in recognizing and supporting black businesses. You may be thinking, “Didn’t we just do this for Black Wall Street?” Yes! It’s something we should practice as often as possible. We must be mindful of where our dollars go.

As a panel speaker at the Black Wall Street Black Business Expo back in June, I had the opportunity to meet so many extraordinary entrepreneurs. Panel Speakers don’t always have the opportunity to enjoy an event, but I remained mindful of the importance of making connections with everyone. The energy in the room that day was magnetic--to say the least.

The hum from the exchange of cash and conversations filled my ears as I walked past each booth. So many displays caught my attention, and I wanted to stop at them all. Knowing that I had to focus on my current and specific needs, I moved fast, spoke to who I could, and collected several cards. I was so inspired by everyone at the event that I’ve made it a point to hire more black entrepreneurs to advance my philanthropic and business endeavors.

My website ( was outdated, and I knew it needed a re-vamp. My first thought was to reach out to the young lady that I met at Black Wall Street ATL, Epiphany Jackson. Thank God I still had her business card!! (Business cards still hold value in this digital age) After a quick call, she clearly understood my vision and went to work! Trusting her with my vision has been one of the best business decisions that I’ve made this year and it all started with Black Wall Street ATL.

Take a look at her work here!
